Our Association was set up in April, 2004, as the joint effort of a group of leading Ukrainian software developing companies, which have accumulated a successful experience, in terms of sales and licensing their services, at developed markets of  North America and Europe, specifically – by “Miratech”, “Softline”, “Mirasoft”, “Profix”, “Ukrsoft” and “Softserve”.

The objective for establishing this Association was to consolidate software companies’ efforts in promoting competitive Ukrainian products at the world market, unite a scientific, educational and industrial potential of Ukraine to develop the software meeting the highest international standards, as well as create the most favorable conditions for the Ukrainian IT industry further development.

“IT Ukraine” Association is aiming at diversifying its activity, in order to:

  • favor the further growth of the Ukrainian IT companies export potential, further improve their positive international image of one of the world’s leading centers of software development and attract foreign investors;
  • unite the majority of export-oriented companies and research & development institutions of Ukraine, engaged in software development;
  • improve a current legislation, with reference to IT business, strengthen relations with the higher educational establishments preparing human resources for the IT industry, establish an advanced infrastructure, specifically, specialized IT bases in the largest cities of Ukraine;
  • increase the participation of Ukraine in IT shows inside/outside Ukraine;
  • favor an active implementation  of CMMI and ISO 9000/2000 standards, related to project management and quality assurance.

Democratic principles, which the Association is based on, in particular, the regular rotation of the elected President, and three levels of membership –full, associate and academic ones – contributed to the rapid growth of the Association membership. For example, the associate membership provides an opportunity to attract a wide range of regional small and medium sized companies, while the academic one – higher educational establishments and research and development institutions.

Since September, 2004, “IT Ukraine” Association is a member of the World Alliance Information Technology and Services (WITSA).

On May 2006 “IT Ukraine” Association became a member of the European ICT Association (EICTA).
